THE FAULT IN OUR STARTS | MOVIE REVIEW

20140630-031533 pm-54933988.jpg
I have to confess, I was beyond excited to watch this movie and I was very scared too. See, when you have a book/ movie adaptation and specially when the book is very popular like this one is, you have some fears about the movie and I really didn’t want the movie to be bad.
I read the book for the first time a year ago; it was the first John Green book I had ever read and I loved so much. I feel in love with John Greens writing and I feel in love with the story, the characters and everything. I started to search more about John Green and I bought more two books to read and again, loved it. There’s no doubt he is an amazing writer.
June 20 the movie finally came out in the uk. I had heart so much about it and I thought I was read for it, but I was wrong…
I have to say that this is not my favorite John Greens book and I did not cry reading the book and I never cry watching movies. But The Fault In Our Starts got me! When the movie started I was very happy because it was just like the book, just like I wanted it to be. Shailene Woodley was a perfect Hazel Grace, I wasn’t expecting that at all, she did an amazing job and I couldn’t think about a better Hazel than her. Ansel Elgort gave life to Gus just like I imagine him to be, his facial expressions and smiles were just like the Gus in the book, I feel in love with him the moment he showed up in the movie and every time he smiled I couldn’t spot smiling too. Nat Wolff was so funny as Isaac, he was amazing as well; but Hazel’s mum (Laura Dern) was the best. She was so cute and funny at the same time, the way she shows her worries and fears about Hazel was incredible, it was so real and wow!
The movie had many funny and sad moments, I could hear people sobbing and sniffling at the cinema, literally everybody was crying.
I really love the movie, its a perfect adaptation from the book (of course they had changed a few things, but nothing big or important), all the details, the beautiful dialogs they have, its all in the movie.
I was ready to hate the movie, just like I hate the twilight saga (don’t get me wrong, the books are very good but the movies are just shit) and I’m glad I was wrong; I thought this would be another bullshit movie and a horrible adaptation and people would never read the book, but its not! I actually have seen much more people buying and reading the books because they liked the movie.
This is not even a review because I really don’t wanna spoil anything, this is more like “PLEASE GO AND WATCH THE FAULT IN OUR STARTS!! ITS AMAZING!”. And be ready to cry, to feel, to love, to laugh and to be amazed, that’s the right world actually, I was amazed. My mum cried, my dad cried, my boyfriend cried, I did not cry because I must have some emotions problem… I will probably go and watch this movie more 50 times.

WORLD CUP 2014

I don’t have much to say about the world cup. I’m in Brazil, in Manaus, and I’m here because I’m going to the England vs Italy match on Saturday. Here in Brazil people are crazy about football and I saw lots of brazilians making fun of me and my country because Brazil won the world cup 5 times and England won just 1 time, but I really don’t give a fuck about football.

To me, the world cup is just an opportunity for us to show how much we love our country and our culture, how much we love and support our people, so yeah, I don’t care if England is a shit or if we have or not chance to win this world cup, all I care about is my people, my culture, my England. I want to see the british people together, supporting our team, watching the match, even if we don’t win. I want to see people saying they are proud to be british, saying they love England. To me, this is all that matters.

I will be there on the station, screaming, crying, jumping, and supporting my country because I love and I’m proud to be British and I don’t care about how many times we had won the world cup, I just want to be able to be proud of my country. I know that England has problems, every country does, but I am always gonna fight for my rights.

World cup should be about people having fun together, knowing other cultures, making friends and be proud of our people. I can’t complain about the brazilians, most of them were very receptive but I also met people that said “fuck you gringo” when I said I was from England. In the end, all we want is a good football match and some beers to drink. Cheers!
